Oversee a group of children and implement effective and safe programs for school age children and manage the activities and personnel at a site(s) as assigned.  Ensure effective safety and security of all children at assigned location.  Prepare activities, monitor staff to ensure effective supervision and engagement of children.

Hours are AM - 6:30 - 8:30 and PM - 3:00 -6:30 daily (during school sessions) other hours as required.

 

Requires: HS or equivalent with a minimum of 15 credits in education or any of the human service fields and one year of experience or HS or equivalent with 30 credits in education or any of the human service fields, no experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the implementation and supervision of group activities.
  • Assist in activities that develop students’ skills in problem solving, responsibility, safety, manners, self-discipline, and social and physical skills.
  • Model and reinforce student behavior expectations.
  • Clean up day care facility at end of shift (i.e., put toys and games away, wipe down tables).
  • Help students get ready for school (before school) or to go home (after school).
  • Follow school district human relations policies and promote good human relations practices with students, staff, and parents.
  • Answer Telephones in a professional manner
  • Communicate through various strategies student performance and progress while maintaining an engaging relationship with parent(s)/guardian(s
  • Document and Report student performance and progress to the Supervisor to communicate with the parent(s)/guardian(s).
  • Participate in meetings, seminars or in-service training
  • Participate in 12 hours of in service training
  • Participate in Pediatric First Aid Training/ Fire Safety and Water Safety training as needed.
  • In the absence of the Group Supervisor, an Assistant assumes the responsibilities of the Supervisor.
  • Complete other assignments as designated by the Director of Childcare, Site Coordinator or Group Supervisor.

Physical Demands: Ability to stand, sit and walk, as required Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping, and crawling, Light lifting - up to 15 pounds. Occasional carrying - up to 15 pounds

 

Sensory Abilities: Visual acuity to watch children, read computer screen and correspondence. Auditory acuity to be able to use the telephone and converse with others. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly

 

Work Environment: Inside - Classroom setting. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, Noise level is moderate

 

Temperament: Ability to work as a member of a team Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with children and adults, Must be cooperative and congenial, Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions, Ability to establish warm and supportive relationships with children on a group and individual basis.

 

Cognitive Ability: Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to read, write, and do simple computation. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, Ability to make sound, rational decisions regarding the safety and well-being of the students and/or staff, Ability to solve day to day problems and resolve interpersonal conflict.

 

Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED

 

License/Clearance(s): Act 34 - Criminal History Clearance.

Act 151 - Child Abuse History Clearance.

Act 114 – FBI – Federal Criminal History Record.

Act 168 – PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (as required)
