Position Goal: To establish and provide learning activities for children in the Child Care Program and foster a safe environment conducive to learning.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of school age program activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and daily reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensures smooth, daily transitions for children.
  • Follow all program policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist with daily attendance and accountability of children.
  • Provide opportunities and activities that develop students’ skills in problem solving, responsibility, safety, manners, self-discipline, and social and physical skills.
  • Establish, model, and reinforce student behavior expectations.
  • Clean up day care facility after shift (i.e., put toys and games away, wipe down tables).
  • Follow school district human relations policies and promote good human relations practices with students, staff, and parents.
  • Document and Report student performance and progress to the Supervisor to communicate with the parent(s)/guardian(s). 
  • Participate in meetings, seminars or in-service training.

Position Specifications:

 

Education Level: High School Diploma or GED

 

Work Year: Part-time position, 10-month, up to 5.5 hours per day
