Autistic Support Teacher- High School Level- Individual would join an existing team of teachers to provide support to students grades 9-12+ who require autistic support programming. Successful candidate should have a knowledge base and related experience in supporting the unique academic, emotional, and behavioral needs that an individual may encounter when supporting students with autism. Our high school program is designed to provide a continuum of services from most intensive to least intensive supports, with students grouped by case manager according to level of need. The ability to effectively collaborate with parents and a team of professionals (general education teachers, related service providers, outside providers, administrators, other special education teachers) is essential.  Secondary Special Education Certification is required.

 

Requirements: Candidate should have certification in ABA and/or training in behavior modification and the ability to organize and implement an instructional program for students identified as needing support in the areas of academics, behavior, and interpersonal skills.

 

In addition, the candidate should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of differentiation, the ability to utilize assistive technology to support curriculum access, strong consultative and collaborative skills, and a working knowledge of how to use community resources to enhance post-secondary opportunities.  

 

Current PA Special Education Certification 7-12, additional secondary content area certification, and formal education in autism is preferred and/or experience with autism and ABA best practices.

 

Compensation: Salary and benefits are set by the collective bargaining agreement for all contracted positions.
