Autistic Support Teacher: Individual would join an existing team of teachers to provide support to students who require autistic support programming. Successful candidates should have a knowledge base and related experience in supporting the unique academic, emotional, and behavioral needs that an individual may encounter when supporting students with autism. Our Autistic Support program is designed to provide a continuum of services and supports from most intensive to least intensive with students grouped with case manager to support student’s level of needs. Maintaining compliance with special education paperwork and related deadlines is required. The ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with parents and a team of professionals (general education teachers, related service providers, outside providers, administrators, other special education teachers) is essential. 

 

Requirements: Candidate should have experience in ABA and/or training in behavior modification and the ability to organize and implement an instructional program for students identified as needing support in the areas of academics, behavior, and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and data collection management is needed. Candidate should have a strong background with VB Mapp Assessment and the related Intensive Teaching and the ability to provide direct instruction with curricular resources.

 

In addition, candidate should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of differentiation, ability to utilize assistive technology to support curriculum access, strong consultative and collaborative skills, and a working knowledge of how to use community resources to enhance post-secondary opportunities.

 

Current PA Special Education Certification, additional endorsement for the Autism Certification is preferred, experience with and/or formal education in autism is required.

 

Compensation: Salary and benefits are set by the collective bargaining agreement for all contracted positions.
